Sheldon (Anthony ) Goring

Bio

Hello, my name is Sheldon (Anthony) Goring, and I am a 45-year-old male aspiring actor. I come from the stunningly beautiful island of Jamaica and moved to New York City at a young age with my parents. Since 2007, I have been living in Calgary, AB, Canada. I have an outgoing and adventurous personality and consider myself ambitious, generous, and thoughtful. I have a determined yet pleasantly calm nature. I believe in fighting for what you desire and doing so with faith in God because nothing great comes easy, and with God, everything is possible. I work full-time for the City of Calgary and am motivated by achieving success in my quest to become an outstanding and successful man in today's society. My ultimate goal is to become a professional actor and own a business that helps people achieve their dreams of becoming actors, actresses, and models. I dedicate most of my time to my family, traveling, and volunteering for charities in and around the city. My passion for performing and the entertainment industry began at a very young age. I've been fortunate to participate in movies and TV shows as an extra, and I've done commercials. After high school, I had plans to attend university, but life took a different turn when my then-girlfriend and I had a baby. I had to step up to the plate and make sure I could support her and my son. After meeting a mutual friend, I began dating a long-time crush who was single at the time. We moved in together while I continued to work out of town, which had been my routine before we started dating. Then, after about a year of dating, she gave me an ultimatum: continue working away from home or stay and work locally. I chose to stay, which allowed me to rekindle my passion for acting. I attended a few auditions, acquired an agent, and landed some roles in TV shows like "Heartland," "Lost in Space," and "The Detour," as well as various commercials. However, I noticed myself slipping back into old habits. That's when I stumbled upon your opportunities on Actor Access, which have led me to where I am today. My inspirations in acting are Will Smith and Denzel Washington. Watching them on television while growing up inspired me to pursue acting even more. Both Will and Denzel have their families and are hardworking gentlemen who push boundaries in their careers and follow their hearts. They are motivational speakers who help people believe in themselves and are famous actors worldwide. My family always told me I should pursue acting because I could become very successful and help people all over the world. I firmly believe in putting God first, and everything else will fall into place. My goal is to work diligently for the next two years, seizing every opportunity, making wise decisions, listening, seeking advice, and helping others as I strive to become a well-rounded actor. In five years, I hope to have achieved my dreams and opened doors for not just myself, but for others as well. As for my accomplishments, I am just beginning my acting career, so I haven't received any awards or accolades yet, but I am working diligently toward that. Life doesn't give up on dreams, so I won't either. I'm fighting hard for what I want, and among my biggest rewards is the wonderful family I get to see every day. I've made a commitment to myself to do everything in my power to ensure they have a beautiful life. What motivates me is my family and what I need to do for them. Each day, I wake up knowing it's another opportunity to work on my entertainment career. I always strive to provide the best for my family. To stay motivated, I often read or listen to inspirational quotes and motivational speeches from my favorite actors. I've taken classes and trained with acting coaches to improve my skills. Pursuing a career in acting hasn't been easy—there have been more downs than ups. However, I firmly believe in protecting my dream and not giving up. As one of my favorite quotes says, "If you have a dream, you've got to protect it. When people can't do something themselves, they're going to tell you that you can't do it. If you want something, go get it." Starting in acting isn't easy. You have to attend numerous auditions in hopes of landing a job, much like life itself. When I was growing up, my family had its share of financial struggles. My parents worked very hard to provide for us, and we lived within our means. However, they weren't able to take many trips due to financial constraints. I will continue to strive to reach where I need to be in life. Just because one door closes, that shouldn't determine whether or not the next one will open. I believe that with dedication and hard work, I can achieve my dreams and make a positive impact on the people around me. Thank you for taking the time to read my story.
