I am Lossie M. Davis born in a farming community in Ripley, TN, was raised by my 102-year- old Grandmother. Whom I am named after Lossie Mae; She was my inspiration as she helped my mother raise my siblings and me; My grandmother who was the backbone of our family and a pillar in her community. She dedicated her life to being a homemaker for our family and her community. She is now our angel as she went home to the Lord Jesus Christ in July 2019. I graduated from Ripley High School; After leaving Tennessee and moving to Indianapolis, Indiana; I embarked upon a career in public service and law enforcement for 34 years with the last six years of my career making history becoming the first African-American woman to serve in a command staff position for the Southport Police Department as Asst. Chief of Police. “Knowing your true identity gives you courage.” Encouraging, Empowering, Inspiring, and Loving God’s people is my mission as First Lady of Ambassador Missionary Baptist Church; I am a Christian woman with a servant's heart who enjoys mentoring and ministering to young people. Within the church, not only am I the First Lady, continuing with my servant’s heart, I also participate on the praise team and the decorating team for our church. I am the mother of two sons Jovaris and JaRon; stepmother to four children, Darryl Jr, Durrell, Faylon, and Chelsea. In July 2016, I became a published author of the book God’s Purpose for My Pain”. This book is in the loving memory of my beloved 17- year-old son JaRon E. Collins who, while away from his home in Indianapolis, was murdered in Tennessee while attending basketball camp. In 2018 I formed Broken But Blessed Ministries as a grief and healing ministry and book club. By God’s grace and mercy, I now understand why God chose me to walk in His purpose after all the pain I have endured, losing and burring my son to a senseless act of gun violence.” Trauma is not your fault, but healing is your responsibility” I choose not to hurt people but to help people heal. -Faith is not an emotion. It’s a decision to stand on God’s Word – Lossie M. Davis
